60" CTA Plow, Severe Duty Rubber Plow Edge and Top Flap kit, Complete
This kit ships FREE, with Ground Delivery in the Lower 48 states.
Enhance your 60” CTA Plow’s performance and also protect your pavement in the process. This kit replaces either the steel or UHMW Plow edge with a precision cut rubber edge and steel mounting strap, to provide snow clearing capabilities, without the damage to the surface.
Plow Rubber Edge, Mounting Strap and Hardware
Steel plow edges can scrape the surface and cause abrasions to the cement or scratch and damage the asphalt surface. Even the UHMW plow edges can remove asphalt repairs such as hot rubber crack filling or any other surface repairs. Years of plowing experience have proven to us that to protect the pavement, the rubber edge is the way to go.
This kit allows you to remove the steel or UHMW edge and replace it with a laser cut, rubber edge which has vertical adjustment, as the edge is used. Also, our rubber edge is 6” tall, 3/4” thick and is machined to provide 2 complete wear edge surfaces. When your edge wears down, simply flip it over and you have another new rubber edge for seasons of snow clearing duties.
Our Severe Duty Kits are specifically designed to be used in Highly Corrosive Snow Clearing environments. This means we eliminate the use of steel parts and custom fabricate them out of UHMW Plastic, for complete corrosion resistance. The plow edge and top flap are Held on with a laser cut UHMW straps with square cut mounting holes, to make the use of stainless carriage bolts easier and efficient.
Our UHMW strap is extra thick, to provide optimal clamping capability of the rubber plow edge and to provide full range of adjustment for the plow edge with use.
The rubber edge and UHMW mounting strap are held on with Stainless Steel hardware which is the most corrosion resistant hardware available. This is important, as the hardware is crucial for seasons of trouble free use. It also assures the ability to make adjustments to the plows rubber edge, to get the most of your Severe Duty Kit.
Plow Top Flap, Mounting Strap and Hardware
Our plow top flap kit is the next step in enhancing your plow’s total performance. A well designed and constructed plow top flap helps achieve the following advantages;
It keeps the snow off the operator on open station equipment for maximum visibility and to help remain more comfortable. Clearing the snow is one thing, wearing it in the process, is another.
For those clearing snow with a cabbed machine, the top flap keeps the windshield clear and visibility better for your snow clearing activities.
The top flap rolls the snow ahead of the plow for improved clearing efficiency.
The top flap also can throw the snow off the end of the angled moldboard more effectively, which helps to keep the snow banks further back from the plowing surface.
Those who have plowed with a top flap on their plows, generally always use a top flap in the future it enhances the plows operation and function.
Our plow top flap is custom built for this plow, to make installation a breeze. The mounting holes are all laser cut and the UHMW top flap mounting strap is laser cut to accept special stainless carriage bolt hardware, which looks great and works even better.
Our Stainless hardware is the ultimate corrosion resistant hardware on the market, to keep the plow looking new and working great. We use either Nylock nuts or special flange nuts with serrations to help lock the top flap in place on the plow.
The attached picture of the rusty bolt is standard hardware from an OEM implement, after 2 years of use. This is why we use special hardware in all of our products and applications as this amount of corrosion is extreme for a residential use snow clearing implement. The bolt is from my Snow Pushers back drag edge, which sees very little snow melt material.
Complete, Severe Duty Grade 60” CTA Plow Upgrade Kit
Our plow enhancement kit includes everything needed to install the rubber edge on the plow as well as the plow’s top flap. This is a Top Quality commercial grade kit, designed to provide seasons of reliable performance for your CTA plow. All parts described above are included in this kit, making it a complete upgrade kit for your plow.
This Severe Duty Kit is designed for those who either
clear snow in areas where there is extensive amounts of snow melt applied to the pavement. Snow melt material is extremely corrosive and our kit provides upgrades to corrosion proof and corrosion resistant materials.
This kit is ideal for use at Medical centers, High Traffic public areas or walkways, drives and parking lots where snow melt is applied to keep the surface “wet” during the winter season. If your plowing involves areas with extensive snow melt products, consider our Severe Duty Plow Upgrade Kit for optimal long term results and best snow clearing results.
Or, for the plow owner looking for the highest quality, plow enhancement kit available on the market.
An important message about Stainless Hardware
Stainless hardware is extremely corrosion resistant and beautiful hardware when installed. However, its critical that you properly install and remove stainless hardware to maximize its useful life and to avoid possible problems which can happen when the hardware is improperly installed.
Stainless hardware should ALWAYS be lubricated with silicone or another suitable hardware lubricant whenever it is installed or removed. We also suggest you either avoid using an impact gun or use one very carefully. When stainless hardware is “buzzed on or off” with an impact gun and not lubricated, it can “gall” the hardware and lead to “Cold Welding” of the nut to the bolt. This happens when the friction between the threads on the nut and bolt develops heat from improper use of the impact tools.
Once stainless hardware is “galled’ or “cold welded”, it can be extremely difficult to remove and might require a plasma cutter or grinder to remove the hardware. To avoid galling or cold welding, simply use a silicone lubricant on the hardware and do not rapidly spin the hardware with an impact tool.
Use normal care and the stainless hardware is an outstanding improvement to any kit. It’s corrosion resistance keeps the hardware clean and looking and working like new, when other hardware is long past its prime. Used properly, stainless hardware is an outstanding hardware solution.
Also, stainless hardware is often significantly more costly than standard hardware. One example, recently while quoting hardware, some 5/8” carriage bolts in stainless steel were more than $22 per bolt in the 316 stainless grade. A typical corrosion resistant coated bolt of the same size would cost about $2 to $3 per bolt in the same size. Yes, the larger sizes of Stainless 316 hardware can be 10X that of standard hardware costs, item to item..
In fact, the 5/8 Stainless Flat washers cost more than standard 5/8 carriage bolts. So the stainless hardware does come at quite a premium price, which is largely why the Severe Duty Kit costs are much higher than our standard commercial quality kit.
