Our Top Flap rubber has no reinforcement threads which make the edge unsightly and look cheap, like a shedding animal rubber stall mat.
Our 6” wide Top Flap material is 1/2” thick.
Our 8” wide Top Flap material is 3/16” to 1/4” thick
My personal opinion is that the larger the plow width, the better the WIDER plow top flap looks on the plow. While the narrower top flap works fine because of its material, if you plow deep snow often, opt for the 8” top flap rubber material, especially on plows which are this wide.
Best Weather and Snow Condition Use
The 6” wide Top Flap rubber material -
is designed for wetter and heavier snow which is more likely to stick to the plow and be more difficult to push. This is snow which often falls when the season is starting or ending. Air temps are often 33F > which makes the snow very heavy and packs quickly.
The 8” wide rubber material
is designed for deeper, lighter snow which the plow will roll further forward. This is snow which falls when air temps are below 25F. If you are unsure of which Top Flap to select, error on the side of caution with the wider top flap material.
Our snow blade top flap kit for the BigToolRack blade includes the following
Your Choice of our 6” Top Flap or our 8” Top Flap Rubber material
Single Piece Rubber Edge which is laser cut to align with the plow holes.
UHMW Mounting strap which is 1/2” thick to hold the top flap on the blades top moldboard lip, which is already drilled with holes to secure the top flap.
We make the top flap mounting straps in lengths which make their shipping and their installation on the blade easier. This means your 90” BTR Plow Top Flap Strap is likely to be in 3 or 4 lengths, marked for easy installation. By cutting the top flap into sections, it prevents excessive shipping charges for over size packages.
Each flap is shipped with a full set of Corrosion resistant hardware with lock nuts to secure the top flap on the plow.
Please avoid over tightening the hardware with an impact tool, etc. as it distorts the top flap and can cause the hardware to gall.
