This rubber is intended for use on a residential duty front or rear plow.

Do you have a plow which is 66” wide or less and would like to have the rubber plow edge on your plow, to protect the pavement you are plowing? But you aren’t sure of the hole size and spacing for your plow? No problem, we have a plow edge kit just for you.

We send you a piece of plow edge rubber, 66” long, 4” tall and 1/2” thick. There are no holes cut in the rubber. We include for your use, a Plug Cutting Kit which had plug cutters which will fit into the end of your standard hand held drill.

We STRONGLY suggest you plug cut the holes and that you DO NOT drill the holes as the drilled holes close back up and make the mounting of the edge very difficult. Here are the steps you would follow to use this kit.

  1. REMOVE your plows steel plow edge from your plow.

  2. Use the steel plow edge as template to mark the rubber material for use on your plow.

  3. It’s crucial the rubber extends NO less than 1.25” below the bottom of the plows moldboard when installed.

  4. However, it also can NOT extend more than 2” below the plows edge for proper wear and long term function.

  5. Once you have measured your plow, simply lay the steel edge on the rubber material making sure to get the proper distances outlined above.

  6. Make sure your plow edge mounting holes are square to the rubber material so when installed, the same amount of the rubber hangs below the plow on both ends of your blade. Mark the center of the holes from the steel plow edge.

  7. Make sure the plow rubber is positioned as mentioned in items 3 and 4 above, as this is crucial for proper function and wear.

  8. Remove the steel plow edge template and prepare to Plug Cut the rubber material for the new mounting holes.

  9. Measure your plow’s current hardware diameter and length. You are going to need longer bolts by the thickness of the rubber edge. We have plow hardware which we can ship to you with the rubber edge to make installation easier.

  10. Lay the rubber material on a piece of scrap wood so you can use the plug cutter and cut through the rubber edge, but not through the surface you are working upon. Make sure you have scrap wood under the rubber when plug cutting as you need to fully penetrate the rubber material for a clean cut. You do NOT want anything under the plow rubber which can be damaged as the plug cutter will damage whatever it hits.

  11. Select a plug cutter one size above your plow hardware size. If your plow uses 5/16” hardware, use the 3/8” plug cutter to cut the holes in your rubber edge.

  12. Measure twice, plug cut once, so make sure to have the proper clearance under the plow edge and also align and square the plow mounting holes on the rubber. Make sure the plug cutter pulls a full plug before you stop cutting so you have a nice clean plug cut. Once the plug is cut, the hole is there to stay.,…..

  13. Make sure to have a flat strap to hold the rubber across the entire width of the plow. You can not properly secure a plow edge with washers and bolts, you need a flat clamping strap to hold the rubber or UHMW edge in place. We sell flat strap material without holes, made out of UHMW plastic or Mild Steel. Our straps provide the proper clearance to make the plow function correctly.

If you would rather not try to lay out the rubber material or drill a strap to fit your plow, we offer custom made solutions. We tell you exactly what to measure and how to measure it and we make sure to create a plow edge for you that will be bolt and go.
