Our UHMW Wear Bar is a perfect replacement for the mild steel wear bar on Deere, Front Mounted Heavy Duty snowblowers.
Our UHMW wear bar ends the pavement surface scratching, abrasion and gouging caused by the steel edge. The UHMW Edge glides over the pavement and when used with our UHMW blower shoes, ends the pavement surface friction, abrasion and damage from the steel wear bars and shoes.
When used with our UHMW Blower Shoes and used correctly with minimum down pressure on the edge, Our UHMW wear bars even outlast the mild steel wear bars, which is an added plus*
We make a UHMW Wear bar for all size of the Deere Heavy Duty Snowblowers. Each wear bar is made to perfectly fit on the snowblower’s wear bar mounting area. But, our products are superior in several ways to the mild steel wear bars they replace, including
The H.D. Blower Mild Steel Wear ,bar is from 1/8” thick to 1/4” thick depending upon the blower size. Our wear bars are 1.25” thick, which makes our UHMW wear bars 6 to 12 X thicker than the mild steel bar they replace.
Our UHMW wear bars bolt directly onto your blowers mounting area without any modifications or changes to the blower or wear bar. Our wear bars are a direct fit replacement.
The mild steel wear bars are from 3” wide to 3.25” wide, depending upon the blower size. Our wear bars are the same width or if space allows, even wider, which is the top to bottom height so they bolt in place.
Our wear bars won’t cause pavement abrasion, surface damage, scrape or scratch the asphalt surface or damage the pavement when used as directed and with reasonable care.
No more rust on the garage floor where the blower sits between use.
Our wear bars are QUIET, no more scraping and metal scratching and screeching sounds.
Our UHMW wear bars allow the blower to slide so much easier, it surprises those installing them on their blowers. When using our UHMW blower wear bars and UHMW blower shoes, you can push your blower on the snow covered pavement by hand, to move it. Not the case with the steel wear bar and shoes, with the steel scraping the pavement.
Make sure to purchase our UHMW Blower Shoes when you buy the UHMW wear bar, so you eliminate the steel surfaces on the pavement and end pavement abrasion and damage. Plus our shoes make the snowblower more stable front to rear and side to side, which makes it clear snow better.
We offer a special discount for those who purchase the snow blower wear bars and shoes at the same time. Make sure to look for the Blower wear bar and shoes package listing, it saves you 10% on your purchase.
All of our H.D. Wear bars include Stainless Steel Hardware for easy installation.
Common Questions we are asked about these UHMW H.D. Blower wear bars include
Q. - How hard is it to change the blower wear bar on these H.D. Blowers?
A.- It’s usually a 30 to 45 Minute job to remove the old wear bar and clean the blower surface and install the new UHMW wear bar.
Q.- Do I need to remove the blower from the tractor to change the H.D. wear bar?
A.- You don’t have to, but I feel its easier, faster and safer to change the wear bar by disconnecting the blower from the tractor and tipping the blower on its nose.
Q.- What tools are needed to change to the UHMW wear bar?
A.- Either basic combination wrenches or a ratchet and socket and wrench.
Q.- How long should the UHMW wear bar last on my Deere blower?
A. - It should last as long as the mild steel wear bar it replaced as UHMW is extremely durable and highly wear resistant. In terms of number of driveway clearings, expect 200+ for a driveway which is 500’ or shorter in length.
Q. - What do you mean when you say your UHMW wear bar is “Double Sided” and can be “flipped over”?
A. - Our wear bar is made with two wear edges. Install it, wear down the one side, unbolt it, turn it over (top to bottom) and reinstall it and have another new wear edge to use. That means 200+ driveway clearings now becomes 400+. Yes, I have used this product myself and tested it. I actually was able to get nearly 700 driveway clearings out of the entire wear bar. That’s a lot of snow clearing.
By the way, our UHMW snowblower shoes are also double sided and can be flipped over, extending their wear life. In some cases, the blower shoes will be the last blower shoes the owners purchase.
Q. What’s the biggest mistake made when operating snowblowers on these tractors?
A. - Using excessive down pressure on the blower wear edge. Just as pushing down as hard as you can on a snow shovel doesn’t make the shovel work better, it just wears the shovel and you out sooner and likely breaks the handle, the same applies to using snow plows and snowblowers. Use enough down pressure to clear the snow and avoid excessive down pressure and you will be better off , happier and your plow and blower wear edges last longer.
Q.- Why would someone not want to change from their steel blower wear bar?
A. - Simply due to either fear of the unknown or being concerned the replacement is too difficult. It’s easy to change to our UHMW wear bar, we include instructions and all new hardware. The longer you use the steel wear bar, the more the bolts and the bar will rust and the more likely you will have to grind off the bolts at some point. This is why we use stainless hardware, so the bolts and nuts don’t rust and our UHMW bar never needs painting or other surface care.
Q. - Will the UHMW wear bar clear the pavement as well as the steel wear bar does?
A. - It will clear the pavement better than the steel edge does. Cleans the snow and ice with the leading edge and doesn’t harm the pavement.
Q. - Does the UHMW wear bar change how the blower is pushed by the tractor?
A. - Yes, it changes how the blower is pushed, making it much easier to slide on the snow and also makes the tractor easier to steer and control. When the blower slides more easily on the snow, the tractor doesn’t have to fight the blower to steer correctly. Customers comment about how much easier their tractors drive clearing snow with our edges than the steel ones.
Q. - Why should I also change the steel blower shoes to the SBS UHMW blower shoes?
A. - To eliminate the last steel surface scraping the pavement and to make the blower better balanced front to rear and side to side. By keeping the blower flat on the pavement it scrapes snow better, steers better and goes from surface to surface (such as from asphalt road to concrete driveway, etc) better.
Q.- Why does the UHMW wear bar cost more than the Mild steel wear bar it replaces?
A. - The UHMW material is very expensive. The UHMW is about 10 to 12X the cost of the mild steel. Our UHMW wear bars sell for between $275 and $325 where the Deere steel wear bars sell for about $180 to $200. The UHMW wear bars are also complex to make compared to the steel wear bars. Some of our UHMW wear bars have 7 different machining processes in their production.
Q- Why don’t the manufacturers put these UHMW wear bars on the blowers when new?
A. - Several reasons. First is cost, the UHMW wear bars costs more to make than the mild steel. Also, the mild steel wears and shoes wear out and have to be replaced, which sells both shoes and wear bars for blowers. By reducing the friction and extending the blower wear bars life when made of UHMW, it lasts longer and doesn’t require replacement as often.
Q - Which customers should consider the SBS, LLC Impact Resistant and Rubber H.D. Snowblower wear bars?
A. - Those who have pavement with uneven surfaces and the snowblower is often striking the edges of the pavement when clearing snow. If your snowblower is “banging” into edges and rough pavement, consider the Impact resistant and Rubber H.D. Snowblower wear bars we produce and sell..
Please see our Deere H.D. Blowers Impact resistant bars listing for a detailed breakdown of the differences in these 3 edges and which edge would be best for a customer based upon a range of factors and conditions. As always, if you need assistance or have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email or on our office phone.
