Low Friction, No Surface Damage, Long Lasting, Quiet. Our UHMW Snowblower Shoes for the John Deere Heavy Duty Blowers are a revolutionary product which will improve your blowers function and stability, while also ending the surface friction and damage to the pavement, which comes from the steel shoes grinding on the pavement. We created these UHMW Snowblower shoes to stop the damage which the steel blower shoes and the steel wear bars on the snowblowers cause, when clearing the pavement.

Our UHMW Snowblower shoes are sold as a kit, to replace the shoes on your Heavy Duty Blower. Here is how our shoes will be different than the shoes on your snowblower and how our shoes will improve the blowers function.

  1. Our snowblower shoes are made of UHMW which is Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) plastic, which is an extremely strong and durable product which has the lowest surface friction of any plastic product produced.

  2. Please carefully look at our pictures. We have comparisons of the Heavy Duty Blower steel shoes against our UHMW shoes for the same blower. You will see just how much larger, wider, longer and taller our shoes are than the steel shoes on the blower.

  3. Our shoes glide on the surface and the UHMW material is designed to be ultra low friction and self lubricating. This allows the shoes to slide easily, eliminate the surface grinding and friction damage to the pavement now experienced from the steel blower shoes. While by design, the UHMW is self lubricating, they work even better when pushed on a wet or snow covered surface, which further reduces surface friction and enhances the lubrication of the shoe wear surface.

  4. Our UHMW shoes slide silently across the pavement, no more scratching and screeching of the steel shoes on the pavement.

  5. Our shoes are longer, wider and also double sided, which means when our shoes do wear, they can be flipped over and an entirely new wear surface exists. The shoes were designed so there is no left or right and no top or bottom. Either shoe fits on either side of the blower and can be flipped over when the original surface is worn.

  6. Our shoes mount on the outside of the snowblower housing. John Deere has some blower shoes mounted on the inside of the blower housings, some on the outside. Some of their shoes have a left and a right shoe. We incorporated all mounting holes in our shoes so our shoes fit most Deere blowers made in the last 30 years.

  7. The shoes we designed for Heavy Duty Blowers are different from the shoes we designed for the Quick Hitch blowers. By selecting your blower type and size, we will make sure to ship you the correct blower shoes.

  8. Our blower shoes will last much longer than the steel blower shoes. How much longer depends upon the blower operator. We suggest avoiding excessive down pressure on all blowers and plows as excessive down pressure simply wears the wear bars, shoes and wear edges faster than necessary. Pushing down harder on the blower by using the hitch hydraulic down pressure doesn’t improve the blowers performance and it actually impedes the tractors steering functions.

  9. Our shoes are shipped with installation and use instructions. As always should you have any questions, we encourage you to contact us using our website contact button or information.

Common Questions we receive about these UHMW Blower shoes

  • Q. How long will these UHMW blower shoes last before needing to be replaced?

  • A. - On normal residential use, we expect these blower shoes to last 5 years or longer. On commercial use, we expect the shoes to last about 2 full seasons. Commercial use assumes blower operation time of 100 hours per season where residential use assumes 30 to 35 hours of blower use per season.

  • Q. How hard is it to install these shoes?

  • A. - Very easy. They can be installed with basic hand tools, with the blower on the tractor in about 5 minutes per side.

  • Q. Are these UHMW shoes adjustable up and down to help get the best blower function?

  • A.- Yes, there are the same mounting holes in these shoes as are on the OEM steel shoes which came on your blower.

  • Q. Is it possible to break these shoes?

  • A. - Possible? Perhaps but extremely unlikely. We have tested these shoes in extreme conditions and the shoes did outstanding. I don’t want to say these shoes couldn’t be damaged, but its very likely there would have to be substantial damage to the blower itself to cause such damage to these shoes.

  • Q. Why are the shoes mounted on the outside of the blower instead of the inside of the housing?

  • A.- We are looking to improve the blowers function and performance. Increasing the blowers stability on the pavement is crucual in improving the blowers performance. Mounting the shoes outside of the blower housing provide side to side stability and also remove obstructions from inside of the blower housing.

  • Q. Can I mount these shoes inside of the blower housing?

  • A. - If YOU determine there is adequate clearance from all moving parts inside of the blower and you are comfortable placing the shoes on the inside of the housing, then that’s your decision. We did not design nor test these shoes for use inside of the blower housing. If you choose to mount the shoes on the inside, please understand you are using the product in a way for which is was not designed nor intended. Use your best judgement on such matters.

  • Q. Why didn’t SBS test the shoes inside of the blower housing?

  • A. - Because most Heavy Duty Blowers have the OEM shoes on the outside of the blower housing. Plus we are trying to improve the front to back and side to side stability of the blower to improve its function and reduce wear on the blowers components. Our goal was to improve the blowers function and we felt leaving the inside of the blower housing free of impediments or possible obstructions the best approach.

  • Q. Why aren’t these blowers sold new with UHMW shoes?

  • A. - Primarily due to cost. The UHMW material is about 10x the cost of mild steel. Plus the UHMW shoes require special machining to produce.

  • Q. Why do all of the SBS snowblower shoes and wear bars come with stainless steel hardware?

  • A. - Because the Marine Grade stainless steel hardware we use is the most corrosion resistant hardware available. Everyone dislikes dealing with rusty bolts and corroded parts which are hard to disassemble. By using stainless hardware, its easy to make future adjustments to the shoe and wear bar locations and even flip over the shoes when the first wear edge had been used.

  • Q. Why don’t manufacturers use Stainless Hardware on these parts when building snowblowers and plows?

  • A. - Simply, they cost much more than regular hardware. In some sizes the Stainless hardware is 5 to 8 times the cost of standard hardware.

  • Q. Is there anything special which should be done when working with stainless hardware?

  • A. - It’s advisable to always lubricate the hardware with a spray of silicone or other spray lubricant. This helps assure the hardware doesn’t damage the surface of the finish which can lead to “cold welding” or where the hardware fuses the nuts and bolts together. You should also avoid using an impact tool on S.S. hardware as the speed of the impact can cause this same result in dry, non lubricated hardware.
