They profoundly change the blowers function.
Our products improve the blowers side to side stability
Eliminates much of the forward tipping of the blowers which causes the steel wear bars to wear out the front half first on these blowers.
Eliminates scraping, screeching and pavement scratching by the blower
Makes the blower better balanced front to rear and side to side.
Reduces the surface friction and drag dramatically, so much so, you can push the snowblower by hand when on the snow and moving the blower around to align and install it on the tractors front quick hitch.
Let’s talk about the size of these items.
The Deere steel wear bar is 3” tall. , Our SBS wear bar is 3” to 3.50” tall, depending upon the specific H.D. Blower model. This 1/2” of additional product height, provides more wear material for a longer functional life.
The Deere wear bar requires the blower to ride on a 1/4” wide steel rail which is a total size of about 15 sq inches. Our SBS wear bar is 1.25” wide and has a surface wear area of approx. 50 sq inches for the 47” blowers and 60 sq inches for the 54” blowers. That means our wear bar has 4 X the surface wear area than the Deere mild steel wear bar.
Having the snowblower ride on our UHMW wear bar which is 1.25” of width compared to the steel Deere wear bar having 1/8” of width on the pavement demonstrates why our wear bar makes the entire blower much more stable front to rear and side to side.
Our UHMW Blower Shoes are 9” long and 1.25” wide and mounted on the outside of the blower’s housing. This dramatically improves the blowers front to rear balance as well as side to side, which improves its function.
Better blower balance means more consistent snow clearing. It also means the tractor is able to steer and control the blower more easily.
No more rust on the driveway or garage floor from the steel edges.
This additional thickness and height in the H.D. Blower wear bar is accommodated in the blowers adjustment of the shoes, which is why updating your blowers wear bar and shoes at the same time, make the most sense.
Our customers comment how using these products transforms their blowers as a result of upgrading to our products by
Improve the snow clearing result, by using our innovative snowblower wear bar to clear the snow from the pavement.
Actually clear the pavement of snow and leave it clean, as it should be with the front edge of the UHMW wear bar on the pavement to clear the snow.
They no longer have a driveway surface covered with a layer of snow even after going over it with the snowblower.
We hear stories often where customers tell us “The dealer set up my snowblower to leave an inch or so of snow on the driveway to protect it from being damaged by the blower wear bar”.
The dealers expect customers to use their blowers in this manner. We say NONSENSE, replace that steel wear bar with our UHMW wear bar. Scrape the driveway to the pavement and let the sun clear the driveway as it should. This makes customers much happier….
This Kit Includes
A professionally designed and produced UHMW replacement snowblower wear bar.
Stainless Steel hardware to make the installation of the new wear bar easy.
A Pair of new UHMW Snowblower Wear Shoes. These snowblower shoes are also reversible, so they provide two wear edge, for a very long wear life.
Stainless steel hardware to properly mount the new UHMW shoes.
Installing your New SBS UHMW Snowblower Wear bar and Shoes
We provide detailed instructions of the installation process. This is a summary of the process and our instructions included with the wear bar and shoes outline the process, step by step.
Please note, the Deere 47” and 59” and 60” Heavy Duty Deere front mounted snowblowers use Metric hardware, so you will need Metric tools to remove the wear bar and shoes from your blower. The Deere 54” Heavy Duty blower uses SAE hardware, so standard sized SAE tools will allow you to install these items on your 54” Deere Heavy Duty Blower.
Our SBS UHMW parts include all Marine Grade, SAE Stainless Hardware to install the new wear bar and shoes.
It’s easiest to install the wear bar and shoes with the snow blower removed from the tractor. Having the blower tipped forward on its nose places the blower in the ideal position for installing these items.
Please note, while the snowblower should be removed to install the snowblower wear bar, the shoes are easily added to the blower when its installed on the tractor. In the event that your blower wear bar and shoes arrive separately, you can install the wear bar, reattach the blower to the tractor and then easily add the shoes when they arrive. Adding the shoes takes just 5 minutes per shoe on the blower and involves just a few bolts each.
Depending upon the age of your blower and the wear on the steel wear bar, the total installation of the wear bar and shoes should take between 30 minute and 1 hour for someone with average mechanical skills.
If your blower is newer or has low use hours, the bolts holding the wear bar are likely going to be easy to remove. We suggest all hardware be sprayed with a penetrating oil / lubricant to make the process easier.
The tools required includes metric sockets for the wear bar and shoes hardware. A hand held nut driver is very handy for installing the new UHMW wear bar.
If your snowblower has extensive use, you may have to grind off the old bolts. One of the problems with the design of the steel wear bar is it allows the mounting nuts and bolts to be exposed to grinding on the pavement. This can make removing the hardware more challenging.
If your blowers wear bar is worn to where the mounting hardware is grinding on the pavement, a hand held 90 degree grinder will remove the worn and damaged hardware. Simply grind a slot in the center of the nut on the wear bar and the hardware will drop out of the wear bar.
Should you need to grind the old bolts or nuts off your snowblower due to rust or if the hardware has been worn down with contact from the pavement, make sure you grind on the wear bar side of the hardware and NOT directly on the blower housing. If you grind and should grind too deeply or slip off the hardware, you do not want the grinding wheel to touch your actual snowblower housing as severe damage can occur quickly.
Installing the new wear bar is very easy and requires just a 1/2” hand held nut driver and a ratchet with a deep well 1/2” socket.
The shoes are removed and installed with either combination wrenches or sockets.
Please note, while some older Deere snowblowers use SAE hardware most blowers made in the past 15 years use metric hardware. We use all SAE hardware to make the installation easy and to allow the use of common hand tools.
Please make sure to use all proper safety equipment and safety methods when working on your equipment. We don’t want to see anyone injured from working on their equipment. Make sure to wear gloves when handling the steel blower wear bar as it often has a very sharp edge from grinding on the pavement…..Also, the steel wear bar is heavy, so be careful when unbolting it so it doesn’t drop on your feet, etc.
